Meet at Larch Hills at 9:45am for the Haunted Halloween Hunt Experience.
Coaches of all age groups will be combining forces for a Haunted Halloween Hunt. Wear a costume (or part of your costume) that is comfortable to run around in.
The Start: Please arrive 15 min BEFORE the start to find your group, sign in with your coach, pick a group name, etc. Maps will be given out 5 min before the start so you can get oriented. We will endeavour to start at 10am. The teams need to be back by 12 noon. The finish is at the fire in the main stadium where the MYSTERY WILL BE REVEALED.
Check List: Warm layer, hat, gloves, costume (opt), water bottle, zip pocket for candy/wrappers, emergency whistle if you have one, pencil, and a WATCH. Please bring a box of wrapped candy to contribute. Don’t litter. Keep candy wrappers zipped up safe as you go.
The Hunt is a combination of orienteering using a topo map and the boardgame “CLUE”. Using a map your group must find stations where you may need to perform tasks in order to earn secret information (the CLUES). As you collect clues you solve the mystery through the process of elimination. You try and get as many stations as possible within the time. Each age group has different stations/orders.
The Characters: Many of the stations have a person (coach or parent) who is dressed up and in character. They will ask you to do exercises, or answer a riddle, or complete a task. These folks are amazing volunteers!! Please thank them. There may also be wandering characters… friend or foe?
Safety: Make sure you check in with your coach that you are there in the morning, and that you have made it back at the end. Your team must stay together at all times. Station leaders will check off that you have made it to their station. Younger athletes: U10 and possibly U12 , will need a parent or coach with each group.
Volunteers: I will be at the stadium area at 9:30 to hand out maps and help get folks sorted. Bring a thermos. We will have hot water, tea and coffee for the volunteers. Dress warm under your costume and keep moving as it might be pretty chilly.
Thanks!
